Looking for a leisurely morning stroll? Wander the open-air marketplace filled with over 75 unique vendors at the annual Downtown Holland Farmers Market. This recurring event has been a popular site to taste and experience the diverse city culture. Find fresh produce, homemade jams and jellies, charcuterie meats and cheeses, and vibrant flower arrangements. Around 25 artists and groups will be performing for free throughout the evening—entertaining the public with music, magic, dance, and more. Since 1947, Grand Haven has worshipped on the waterfront. To keep this tradition alive, Praise by the Pier hosts scheduled services to worship the Lord right on the water during the summer months. Kollen Park Bandshell, Holland
If you’re looking for something to fill a weekend evening, enjoy a free community concert by the Kollen Park Bandshell. This is assuredly one of the most popular places to be at the end of the week. Each date will feature a different genre of music from jazz to old blues to 80s rock 'n' roll. A variety of exclusive food vendors will offer different flavors to accompany each concert. Bring your family and friends, favorite lawn chair, blanket, and a collection of snacks to experience a night of food and music. Your furry friend is also welcome… just keep Fido on a leash. Watch a phenomenal spectacle of sailboats race across the lakeshore as the sun sets over the horizon. For over 50 years, Bayshore Yacht Club has co-hosted to maintain a sprightly, active sailing community here in our hometown of Holland. This volunteer organization provides entertainment for both sailors and the public to experience a night of riveting competition and a gorgeous sight. Hudsonville Fairgrounds
For three days this month, the Hudsonville Fairgrounds is taken over by a sea of vibrant-colored hot air balloons. This free event (though parking is $10) will feature live music, various food trucks, craft and vendor booths, bounce houses, and face painting. You’ll even be able to meet hot air balloon pilots before they take off into the sky. Do you have energetic, active kiddos? Or are you looking for the next event to show off your athletic skills? Allow them (or you!) to burn off some of that energy at the 17th Annual Zeeland Zoom 5k. This event, sponsored by Corewell Health, features a 3-mile, flat, fast course for adults and 1-mile course for “little zoomers” through historic downtown. There is a fee for participation, and a discount for those who choose to participate in groups (so maybe drag a few friends into the running craze). This free event converts Washington Avenue into a vibrant outdoor art galleria. Take a walk along main street to witness the creations of nearly 80 artists from across the nation. While some art is purely for display, some are available for purchase… so perhaps you’ll find a piece to display in your own home. It’s time to ditch the grass tournaments and catch a game of soccer in the sand. This two-day tournament features 5v5 teams across all skill levels vying for first place. Watch as school age, teenage, and adult teams show off their athletic skills… in the sand.
