New Holland’s Legendary Pinwheels Now Have Their Own Kitchen

If you’re a fan of New Holland’s pepperoni pinwheels, this is your lucky day. The owners of the brewery you have grown to love have now opened a restaurant serving their famous pinwheels—along with a menu exclusive to their newly opened kitchen.

With a vision to connect to this robust community in a brand-new way, the owners of New Holland Brewing decided to embrace the area’s obsession with their legendary pinwheels and expand into the newly opened Pinwheel Kitchen located at 20 Washington Ave, Grand Haven. Perfectly placed in the heart of downtown Grand Haven, right next to the New Holland Distilling-Grand Haven Tasting Room, Pinwheel Kitchen is ready for you to pop in and pay a visit.

A Reflection of Creativity and Innovation
Since its opening this summer, pinwheel enthusiasts new and old have embraced the expansion to enjoy a piece of New Holland’s story. The original Pepperoni Pinwheel has been a delight in the community for over 20 years and New Holland plans to keep the pinwheel experience alive. Guests can now enjoy an exclusive menu of house-made sauces, fresh salads, and cinna-wheels (for the sweet tooth in your family)—all in a welcoming setting.

“The entire inspiration for the Pinwheel Kitchen came from our pub favorite, the Pepperoni Pinwheels. They’re our top-selling appetizer at every brewpub—and the house-made chipotle ranch that comes with them has developed a bit of a cult following," said Brian Oosterheert, the executive chef who came up with the full menu.

"Our goal was simple: take something people already love and have fun with it, experimenting with new flavors, lots of dipping sauces, textures, and food trends that excite us. And honestly, just make stuff that we'd want to eat!"

"The Bacon Dill-icious pinwheels, for example, are a nod to our best-selling pizza at our Grand Rapids location. The Trendsetter Pinwheels? Well, who doesn't love the combination of pepperoni and hot honey?  The combinations are endless, and we plan on continuing to play with different flavors to help keep the Pinwheel Kitchen fresh and fun.”

It’s an Experience
Even though Pinwheel Kitchen does not serve alcohol, you are in luck! You are welcome to bring your food next door to the New Holland Distilling-Grand Haven Tasting Room and pair it with your favorite cocktail for a well-rounded West Michigan food and drink, cultural experience.

The Future Looks Bright for Pinwheels
“What I love to see is tourists have no frame of reference when they visit us, as they don’t know much about our legendary pinwheels. The beauty of being in a beach town is showing tourists the food culture of West Michigan,” said Retail Brand Manager Joel Armato.

“We also love seeing locals bringing in the next generation of pinwheel lovers and enjoying them as a family. Grand Haven has been awesome to work with, from the youth, customers, and all-around community.”

The staff of New Holland seem to have a way with connecting to community, and the community fully embraces them. Of course, the next question is if there will be more locations popping up in the future—as the pinwheel obsession doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon.

“We’re learning this summer and starting to write the story of what this could be,” Joel said.

New Holland Brewing was first established in 1997, with its start in Holland. Expanded locations include Grand Rapids, Saugatuck, South Haven, Battle Creek, and now Grand Haven.

“New Holland’s mission is to create savored moments," Joel said. "And Pinwheel Kitchen is an opportunity to create those moments with the City of Grand Haven and all of its visitors.”
