The Found Cottage Mercantile Market—Experience and Shop 150+ US Vendors

Crisp morning air brings a hankering for fall events and shopping to West Michigan. This coming Labor Day weekend, The Mercantile Market vendors are sure to gild the walkways of the Ottawa County Fairgrounds.

It always seems that once August has arrived, the want for crisp mornings and pumpkin spice lattes seem to hit. Whether you’re ready or not, fall is coming and outdoor events are never at a loss in Ottawa County.

On August 29th and 30th, The Found Cottage will be running its 8th annual Mercantile Market. This has become a Labor Day weekend, absolute must-see event curated with distinctive items and vendors.

This will be not only a weekend of shopping, but you are promised a full-on experience.

Lisa VanDyke, owner of The Found Cottage, said: “Our market has 150+ vendors from all over the US that come in. American and European antiques combined with stunning handmade items make shopping this market such a unique and fun experience. We will also have clothing boutiques and many food and coffee trucks, all nestled in a park like setting. It’s just… so pretty!”

Pointing to God

The Found Cottage, located in Hudsonville, is going on its 10th year in business and the owners point to God for their success and guidance.

“We’ve always wanted a market that was curated and cozy. We had a visual in our heads and it all fell together. It was a God thing, really.” Lisa said. “We prayed about it and had an idea in our heads. God helped us bring it to fruition.”

As if the Mercantile Market itself wasn't enough of an experience, shopping The Found Cottage certainly is. Many of the vendors at the event also hold booths at the store and are planning to put their best foot forward for this once-a-year event. Buying tickets in store is a great way to get a feel for what to expect at the market. The owners feel blessed to be going into their 8th year hosting the market and are thrilled to see the community love it as much as they do.

“We pinch ourselves when we look at what we’ve done. We have a beautiful location, and this event is fun for all ages. This is a great way to start the fall season,” Lisa said. “Every vendor brings their best. We can’t wait to see you!”
