Want to skate Holland’s 700-foot ribbon? Reservations open Tomorrow

Holland Ice Park reservations open Oct. 16 for the attraction’s second season, scheduled to run Nov. 20 through March 14, weather permitting. After drawing roughly 35,000 skaters last winter, the park returns with its skating pond, 700-foot ribbon and curling sheet, with skating sessions priced at $10 per person, including skate rentals.

Holland’s skating pond and 700-foot ribbon return Nov. 20, with reservations opening Oct. 16 after a busy first season.

HOLLAND, Mich. — Holland’s winter skating season is still a month away, but the race to reserve a spot on the ice starts Friday.

Tickets for the second season of the Holland Ice Park go on sale online Oct. 16, giving residents and visitors their first chance to plan a return to the downtown attraction. Last winter, more than 33,000 skating sessions were booked, with roughly 35,000 skaters taking to the ice.

The question now is whether the park can draw the same level of interest in its second year.

Located at Window on the Waterfront Park near East Sixth Street and College Avenue, the Ice Park features a refrigerated skating pond, a 700-foot skating ribbon and a separate curling sheet. The facility opened in 2025, bringing a long-standing community vision to life and creating another way for people to enjoy downtown Holland during the winter months.

The upcoming season is scheduled to run from Nov. 20 through March 14, weather permitting.

What to know before booking

Open-skate tickets cost $10 per person and include a 90-minute skating session and complimentary skate rental. Visitors who have their own skates must still purchase a ticket.

Reservations must be made online in advance because space is limited. The first batch of tickets, available Friday, covers the final 11 days of November. Additional reservations will be released on the 16th of each month, giving visitors the opportunity to book sessions for the following month.

The separate curling sheet is scheduled to open Dec. 1. It drew 213 group bookings during the park’s first season, offering another option for families, friends and groups looking for something different to do during the winter.

More than a novelty?

The Ice Park’s first season showed that Holland residents and visitors were eager to try the new attraction. Now, its second season will offer a better sense of whether that interest can become a lasting winter tradition.

The park adds another reason to visit downtown during the colder months, pairing outdoor recreation with nearby shops, restaurants and other local attractions. Its continued popularity could help make it a regular part of Holland’s winter identity rather than a one-season novelty.

For those hoping to skate early in the season, planning ahead will be important. Reservations are limited, and the first tickets become available Friday.

Tickets and reservation information are available through Holland Parks and Recreation.
