In need of an egg hunt place to take the kiddos? If you’re not hosting your own at home, Spring Lake’s Great Village Easter Egg Hunt offers a fun-filled hunt hosted at North Bank Park. The hunt will begin at 10 am, followed by various other activities such as face painting, outdoor games, fire truck and police car tours, hot chocolate and donuts, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, prizes, and more. As the seasons change and the weather improves, it appears as if new life is being formed. The trees begin to bud, the tulips pop up from the dirt… and the newest members of wildlife are born. At the Critter Barn, this time of year means new life. From newborn chicks, bunnies, lambs, and kids (the goat kind, if you were curious) to piglets and calves. If you’re into all things local (and historical), there will be a guided tour at the Van Raalte Farm Park—the estate where Ben Van Raalte, son of Albertus Van Raalte, lived with his family. The tour will be led by Rick Bosch, a local historian and environmental scientist, and will travel throughout the estate grounds. The time for tulips to bloom is nearing, and to gear up for the season, the popular Windmill Island Gardens is preparing to open its doors. This month, visitors and locals alike will be able to step into a landscape that feels almost identical to those you see in Holland, Netherlands. The great de Zwaan windmill will serve as the spectacle of this location's opening. From tulips in bloom to Dutch history to 36 acres of exhibits, you’ll assuredly want to visit to kick off the tulip season. The admission is $13 for adults, $6 for children ages 3 to 15, and those of whom are Holland residents (by show of your driver's license) are admitted free.
