“A man dreams of himself in a vast field, split perfectly down the middle. On one side stands Jesus, offering peace and eternal reward, on the other, Satan, offering worldly desires, worship of self and everything the man could want. Wanting the best of both worlds, the man decides to climb onto the fence itself, believing he’s chosen neither, but can now enjoy aspects of both. As the man sits there, feeling clever, God and His followers disappear. Then, darkness falls, and Satan appears looking for the man. The man protests, ‘I didn’t choose you! I sat on the fence!’ Satan replies, ‘Exactly, I own the fence.’” —Author Unknown
People and even churches may find it easier, and maybe even less morally wrong, to sit on the fence between two sides in a conflict rather than to choose a side and risk getting it wrong.
But when the two sides of conflict seem as clear as black and white, is the act of not choosing a side in and of itself immoral?
The Battle Lines Are Drawn
If you are brave enough to have stepped onto the political battlefield, you may have quickly come to the conclusion that this is beyond politics and more of a good vs. evil fight you have joined. And as the parable declares, there is no surviving on the fence. You must pick a side.
Nick Freitas, a Green Beret combat veteran and State Representative, explained it well when he delivered his speech in remembrance of Charlie Kirk:
“…We aren't ‘one people’ are we?
"The truth is we haven't been for some time now, and there is really no point in pretending anymore, if there ever was.
"We are two very different peoples. We may occupy the same piece of geography, but that is where the similarities seem to abruptly end.
"I convinced myself for a long time that whenever the left called me a racist, a bigot, a sexist, a fascist, a ‘threat to democracy’ for even the most innocent of disagreements, that it was simply hyperbolic rhetoric done for effect.
"And now the 'effect' is a widow and two orphaned children, because the left couldn’t bear the thought of a peaceful man debating them and winning.
"I don’t think they realize it yet, but murdering Charlie is going to be remembered as the day where we finally woke up to what this fight really is.
"It’s not a civil dispute among fellow countrymen. It’s a war between diametrically opposed worldviews which cannot peacefully coexist with one another. One side will win, and one side will lose.”
Stop Going to Churches Run by Cowards
Frustrations are brewing in the church world. Some preach boldly about being saved and corrected based on Biblical standards and truth.
Some embrace things God hates from butchering kids under the guise of “gender affirming care” to allowing men in women’s sports and abortion vans at presidential rallies. Others sit on the fence, welcoming everyone and accepting all sins.
There is no such thing as a neutral position. You cannot be neutral in the Christian fight.
As Charlie Kirk said,
“Let's remind each other what church is. Church is a place you go to be saved and corrected. It is not a place to go to be told your lifestyle is the greatest lifestyle ever.”
Kirk also said, “The ministry is for people who understand the battle we are in… There is only one way to save this country: to awaken the beast that is the American church.”
Charlie Kirk was cemented in his Christian beliefs and when asked about the church being neutral on issues pertaining to Biblical truths, he boldly stated, “Leave the church! Stop going to churches that are run by cowards! Period.”
Joshua 24 clearly states you can serve God or serve worldly idols; you cannot fence sit.
A church not cemented in Biblical truths, sitting on the fence of worldly issues to entertain the twisted beliefs of this world, is not a church.
Yes, God is love. He loves us so much He died for our sins. He loves us so much He sat with us, sinners, and told us to go and sin no more.
Love is healing from sin, not accepting it.
And as Nick Freitas so eloquently said at the end of his speech, “My Christian faith requires me to love my enemies and pray for those who curse me. It does not require me to stand idly by in the midst of savagery and barbarism... quite the opposite.
"So every time I feel tired, every time I feel discouraged or overwhelmed, I am going to watch the video of a good man being murdered in Utah… I will force myself to watch it… and then I will return to the work of destroying the evil ideology responsible for that and so much more.
"Rest with God, Charlie. Your fight is over. Ours is just beginning.”
